Privacy policy
How we handle your data.
Last updated: 12 May 2026. We respect your privacy and comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
- Booking data: names, email, phone, wedding date, venue address, billing address.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see your card number, only a confirmation token.
- Footage: the raw video and audio captured by your guests on the kit.
- Site analytics: anonymised page-view and traffic-source data via Vercel Analytics. No third-party tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
We use your booking data to deliver the service: shipping the kit, editing your films, sending updates, and handling support. We retain footage for delivery and archive purposes; you can request deletion of the archive at any time after delivery.
3. Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with these processors:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Vercel — site hosting and analytics.
- Australia Post — shipping and tracking.
- Vimeo — private film hosting (only if you opt in to Premium cloud archive).
We never sell your data and we don't run advertising trackers on this site.
4. Use of footage
Short excerpts of your wedding footage (≤ 30 seconds) may appear in our portfolio and social media. You can opt out at booking or any time afterwards by emailing us — we will replace existing public excerpts with another couple's footage within 30 days.
5. How long we keep it
- Booking and invoice records: 7 years (ATO requirement).
- Footage archives: 7 years (Premium) or 12 months (Standard), unless you request earlier deletion.
- Marketing email list: until you unsubscribe.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Email hello@bigdayfilms.au. We respond within 14 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Payment processing is PCI-DSS compliant via Stripe. We do not store payment card numbers.
8. Cookies
We use one session cookie required for the site to function. We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.
9. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we handled your data, contact us first. If you're still unsatisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
